Ross Wilsmore
Now At The Perth Concert Hall

By the Light of the Silvery Moon

About This Exhibition
It is only in the last seven years that Ross Wilsmore has been living off his paintings.

With a 25-year career in Art Direction behind him (during which time he was the winner of two Melbourne Art Director’s Club Awards for Illustration and Design), and a lifelong passion for surfing, Wilsmore's distinctive style draws on both the urban and natural environments for inspiration.

Wilsmore’s speciality is a moody sky and compellingly surreal light in his modernist depiction of urban landscapes which are often compared to those by Jeffrey Smart.

Ross Wilsmore's first exhibition in Western Australia opens at Gadfly Gallery on Friday, 17th February 2012. Titled 'With a Western Slant',the collection features Ross' iconic skies, dramatically heightened with stronger contrasts to reflect his interpretation of the 'West' - where is often to be found surfing when not at home in Victoria!
