Tammy Andrews
Birth Place: Lake Grace, Western Australia
Year of Birth: 1972
Background:
Born in a small farming community in the wheatbelt of Western Australia, my first memories were of shimmering salt flats, stunning subtle colour and objects in isolation. These influences produce images which are often minimalistic and sometimes have a surreal edge to them.Ten years of consistent painting has seen her work develop a unique style and a wide following. Tammy now lives and works in Esperance WA . Her work has a poetic serene quality.
Themes:
Tammy's paintings have an underlying presence evolved from immersing oneself quietly in the landscape and watching the drama unfold.
From a young age she has had an innate relationship with art and literature, her family having interests and employment in art, photography, music and engineering.
Influenced by an almost painterly impressionist style and inspired by the work of Australian artists Hugh Ramsay, Sidney Long among others such as Austria's Gustav Klimt. Although showing a distinctive and recognisable style her work can offer an ecclectic range.
